Jim Wallis joined Dr. Willimon today at Duke Divinity School to talk about what our Christian faith has to do with our current political crisis. Jim presented some of the bleak facts of the political landscape including the state of gerrymandering and voter suppression and then asked the packed room whether and how Jesus might matter. He then posed some further Gospel questions — Who is my neighbor? What is truth? What’s power for? When was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink?— and urged folks to think about the political implications therein. If you’re interested in pursuing this further, check out his recent book Christ in Crisis and the recent call issued by Jim, Will, and other ecclesial elders to prayer, fasting, repentance, and action during Lent 2020. If we work together, all is not lost.
