Musings from an Accidental Preacher

So well produced. But missed the main point.
Bishop Willimon has been and is most successful to this day.
The point missed was that he has moved from success to significance in his second half of life. For this, Dr. Willimon is a wonder-filled exception and model for thousands of pastors who retire (often too early) and think they have nothing more to offer the church. When most of us have everything to offer in Gospel preaching, teaching, and mentoring the next generation. We are called to go onto perfection in Jesus until the resurrection.
I continue to be amazed at the record number of clergy who are retiring before the mandatory retirement age. I am heartbroken because of the record number of churches closing. We lack the leadership that Will continues to offer.
Read Will Willimon’s new book, AGING… and you may discover the main point, from the Gospel point of view of hope.
